Making Money on Line From Your First Product
Thousands of people around the globe have thrown of the shackles of the 9-5 daily grind and are using the marketing power of the internet to create a lifestyle that they have before only dreamt of but now is a reality. The selling power of the internet is massive, if these are your first tentative steps towards starting an internet business then read on, what follows are some of my thoughts, feelings and mistakes whilst getting my first product online.
Why the internet
There are literally thousands of business opportunities for you to consider, infact there are so many it can be mind boggling. The beauty of an internet based business is that it is cheap to set up and can be run from any where you can put your laptop and if its information that your selling well there is no storage to worry about. Other opportunities such as drop shipping are an easy way to get started, all have their pros and cons you just need to tailor it to you personal situation, do your homework
Find your product
This is basically market research you need to find a niche market that people are hungry for. The most obvious thing and a common mistake is to go for something that you are interested in, that’s fine so long as there is a strong market for it, if your chosen product and lets assume it’s information your selling is say golf or sailing then ok but if it’s tiddlywinks and I apologise to all tiddlywinks enthusiasts if I have done you an injustice but I would say your market would be fairly small. Look at what your potential competitors are doing, how many of them are there if it is a vibrant and busy market then that is good, look to see what sells once you have decided, work to add value to your product through service or free shipping, use your imagination to get your customers coming back, that’s where the real money is.
Get the right people for the right job.
This is extremely important you can waste a great deal of time if you employ some one to do a job for you for which they are not equipped or able to do, it sounds an obvious thing to say but believe me a little planning and research will save you a lot of stress, time, money and heartache in the future.
In my experience it is wise to avoid using friends especially if you are getting it at mate’s rates unless you are able to separate work from friendship which is not easy, you maybe unfortunate enough to not have your job done and lose a friend in the process. If you need a website built look on the net the same for copy writers and so on, ask to see examples of their work, ask to see testimonials, if they are any good they will have them.
Concentrate on your strengths.
We all have things we are good at if your strength is website building then great get on and do it, if you are hopeless at creative writing don’t spend time trying to write your sales brochure hand that over to a copy writer, they will make a better job of it and ok it will cost you but in the long run you will save time and money. Learn to delegate the jobs that you find difficult when you do so ensure you give written guidelines as to what you expect from them but be prepared to be flexible and listen to their advice. My motto is work hard but don’t make it hard work.
Be prepared for setbacks
It is inevitable that these will happen but don’t lose faith if you are having a particular problem then often the answer can be found on the internet it’s self. What can be exasperating and difficult to deal with is broken dead lines, it may well feel as though things are out of your control, but never, never give up keep on plugging away be determined, believe in yourself and your product and it will all come right. For a proven method of internet business success and one which the majority know a little about but only a minority know how to harness.
